The Counseling Student Service Department is staffed by a professional secretary and qualified counselor. The purpose of the counseling program is to help each student achieve his or her highest growth mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Our Guidance Office offers the following services to students and parents:

  • Individual Counseling

    • Students may consult with the counselor before, during, and after school. Appointments are not necessary.

  • New Student Orientation

    • Counselor will assist new students as they adapt to a new school.

  • Homebound Program

    • In some cases when students are confined to the hospital or at home for a lengthy period, the school system provides visiting teacher assistance. The counselor will assist with this arrangement. A doctor's statement on inability to attend classes is required for this program.

  • Testing Services

    • Information and application assistance for the ACT Testing Program or SAT program are available in the Student Services Office. Other tests and services are available.

  • Career Information

    • Representatives from colleges, technical, private schools, and the armed forces visit the school on a continuing basis. Scholarships, financial assistance, and college applications are also available in the Counseling Office. The O-NET and MNCAREERS programs are also available for career exploration and information.

  • Referrals

    • Counselor is available to help students when referrals are necessary for health and community services, social services, vocational rehabilitation, speech therapy, post high school education, and occupational information.

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences

    • Additional parent/teacher conferences may be scheduled through the guidance office upon request.
